New features on my website

Since May 15 on our website launched a new commenting system, more suitable for a dialogue with readers than the standard comments. Now, formatting of comments will have a tree-like structure, like used on many forums.

Next, I addedt the voting system. You can see the question and variant of answers on the sidebar. I would appreciate it if you spend a little time and vote, I am very interested in your opinion.

Не настаиваю, однако хотелось бы, чтобы в пунктах голосования было не столь явно выражено ваше отношение к интересующимся и конкретно к их “огромному числу бредовых конспирологическиз теорий”. В частности, последний пункт, мне кажется, более корректно сформулировать “Наличие корреляции самого факта существования кометы и параметров её орбиты с гипотезами о существовании “планеты Х”.

  Спасибо за Ваше мнение. Вопрос в том что лично я, не вижу корреляции орбиты мифологической планеты и моей кометы. Напомню, что период орбиты кометы на входе в “населенную” часть Солнечной системы составлял от 3.5-6 млн. лет. На “выходе”, Юпитер уменьшит это значение до 12000 лет.

    Корреляция, в данном случае, существует по временным рамкам прохождения перигелия. Вам, как астроному и “не-конспирологу” и не нужно её видеть, ведь для этого необходимо опираться на слишком разрозненные и противоречивые “антинаучные” сведения. Однако связь видна другим, и такая формулировка, скажем так, более нейтральна по отношению к 33% посетителей, а это, согласитесь, немало.

        Although I am not a scientist I consider myself a little well informed, so I do not give much credit to the source but I got curious about if it would be possible to verify any of the data. So I rebember that you could be better person to do so :-))). Sorry to mind you with this and I know that all kind of people has been troubling you with all kind of doom theories. Are the following data verifiable?

Although this small bunch of calculations seems to help us interpret
how close we are to being hit, it is actually of no real use unless we
can figure out the pinball effects on the comet as it passes between
planets and the asteroid belt.

For this I have composed a variables list that hopefully some people can give me some figures for so I can work this out:

-Planetary Pathway, (what planets is it set to pass? how close, what
day etc) I already have the info to work out the influence each planet
would have but lack the pathway to judge it from

-ELENIN composition, (what makes up this rock? Mostly ice and gas, or
high levels of iron and rock?), with this I can work into
electromagnetism as a factor.

-Direction and actual speed, right now I’m working with rough estimates and need some hard info to make a general conclusion.

Assuming a radius of 2km and a rubble pile density of 1 g/cm^3, the mass of Elenin is 3.4E+13 kg and Elenin would have an escape velocity of around 1 meter/second (3.6kph or 2.2mph).

If Elenin was to hit another object with 59% the mass of Elenin, they would both be destroyed.
